Don’t Bow Down to Your Blow-dryer

That’s Russell Jones’ philosophy, anyway, and it can be yours too after one session with the Master Stylist and Salon Educator at Evia Spa, who believes hair should be easy, natural and entirely wash-and-wear.
The uber-talented stylist graduated from Aveda Institute in the Woodlands and has been wowing clients ever since in a number of different capacities, including being the official hair stylist for the Houston Dynamo cheerleaders, numerous fashion and tv shows.
So how did Evia Spa land such a talent? “This was a once in a lifetime opportunity,” Russell reveals, “We have built an extraordinary team of talent that give our clients a truly unique experience that can’t be found anywhere else in the area.”
He also served as an educator at Redken for a couple of years. “I have always enjoyed teaching and learning,” says Russell, “Hair styles are constantly changing and staying on the cutting edge is paramount.”
Through the years, Russell has developed his own special style he likes to call wash-and-wear cuts, which are designed to giving his clients cuts they can style themselves. And everyone who’s ever had a daily struggle with the blow-dryer or straightening iron knows that’s the ultimate test of any haircut.
“My main thing,” Russell says, “Is quality over quantity. If a haircut takes an hour, or an hour and fifteen minutes, I’m going to put that time in. I’m all about molding hair so that the client can achieve great style at home. I take great care in educating my clients about how to get a salon-look themselves each morning.”
When asked his specialty, Russell insists that he likes doing everything, from color to cuts to styling. “I love having the chance to create something special with someone’s hair, rather than doing the same thing every other stylist on the block is doing. When a client sits in my chair, I am not just cutting hair, I am creating a work of art. I definitely think outside the box.”
So give your blow-dryers a break and come into Evia Spa and be Russell’s next canvas.
